Wallingford together with Didcot are two areas in South Oxfordshire we regularly visit.

Wallingford is a historic market town on the river Thames between Reading and Oxford. The town was originally in Berkshire until 1974 after a government act moved the town into Oxfordshire. Wallingford castle was constructed by William the Conqueror in 1066 and became a key location during the English civil war because of its proximity to Oxford and the royal headquarters. The civil war itself was ended by the signing of the treaty of Wallingford.

Not far from Wallingford is the railway town of Didcot famed for its rail museum and its power station that has since been demolished.
