Our guide is based on our best selling safe range from Chubb. Chubb safes were established in Wolverhampton in 1835 and have been at the forefront of safe technology ever since.

So, you have decided to purchase a safe. For some they want a safe for sentimental items, others to comply with insurance requirements. Or perhaps you require a firearm or fireproof safe. Regardless we are here to help.

What do I need?

The first step is to select the safe you need. This is done by establishing the value of items to be stored.

The below is a breakdown of Chubbs cash ratings.

Note: You CAN NOT have valuables and cash of the same amount in the same grade of safe.

For example, if you have £6,000 cash and £60,000 of valuables you will need a Grade 1, not Grade 0).

It is also advised to plan and purchase a safe at least one Grade higher than you need.

You also need to consider the size of safe you want and if you want it key locking or combination. We also stock a range of second hand safes that may suit your needs.

Where do I want my safe?

Depending on size Abbey Gate have the experience to install safes in a variety of locations. While the easy solution is always the ground floor, we can also install in basements and upper floors (depending on access). When installed the safes are bolted to the floors or purpose built concrete plinths.

Time to book a survey

Before selling you your new safe we will always visit to establish suitability. We need to know about potential obstacles, for example steps and narrow doorways. We need to check parking availability and the surfaces the safe will be moved on.
