Cleaning and repairing an under floor safe lid

Abbey Gate sent out our locksmith to help fix an under floor safe lid that was hard to open. The safe was located in a garage and once the lid was off it was clear the lock needed cleaning. So we took the lid back to our Caversham lock and safe works in Reading, Berkshire.

The lid to the safe was completely dismantled and stripped right down. It was clear the problem was rust and dirt that had built up over time.

The lock had all grease, grime and dirt completely removed. All brass parts were cleaned and buffed using professional products, machines and methods. The case itself was also completely cleaned.

Inside of the lock cleaned
Bottom of the lid had the rust removed, treated and painted.

With the lock now cleaned and re assembled with a new key the exterior of the lock was also cleaned. A large retaining plate that was rusted was also treated and painted. Following this the whole lid was re assembled and tested a number of times before being returned to the customer.

Upon return the lid fitted and locked perfectly. Following some simple advice from our locksmith on how to care for the lock we left a very happy customer with a fully working safe.
